Hi! I'm Cheryl, the "Webmistress" of this little Web site. It is primarily a place for me to keep links and pictures of personal interest. It's also a good place for me to practice and experiment with XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript. You can also sort-of get to know me by perusing the various stuff that's here. Happy perusing!
This site is designed for the Mozilla Firefox browser, and should also work properly
with IE5.5+.

- Augustana College - (The one in Illinois) Home of my geography degree...!
- TIGER Map Server - An on-line mapping system that is so cool!
- License plates/tags - This site shows most of the auto license plates/tags that are, or have been, in use in North America. Oops... this one's dead.
- World License Plates
- Internet Vanity Plates - Vanity license plates by people even geekier than I am!
- ACME License Plate Maker - Yes, that's what it is - sort of!
- State Highway Markers - James Lin has put together a great collection of highway signs from around the world. My favorite section shows a state highway sign from each of the 50 states of the U.S.
- Garmin Mobile Electronics - Garmin sells portable GPS receivers. For those of us who are intrigued by both geography and electronic gadgets, these are wonderful things. I picked the GPS V - and am very pleased with it, overall.

- Unisys Weather - My favorite source of weather maps & stuff.
- The Storm Prediction Center - Are we "gonna git ternadas?" :-)
- The Weather Channel - It's not just on TV anymore.
- Lightningstorm.com - An interesting source of free, but not terribly detailed, live lightning information.
Humor
- My own humor page at GeoCities - A (future?) collection of my favorite jokes, pictures, etc. (Under construction)
- RinkWorks - A wonderful world of humor, chat, games, and lots of other stuff -- including the "Dialectizer," which does some interesting Web page translations. The chat room is called RinkChat, but I no longer have time to visit it. :-(
- Looney Tunes Links - Lyrics, merchandise, pictures, and other assorted stuff of a Looney Tunes nature.
- Comics: Cathy & Foxtrot & Garfield & Dilbert - plus Calvin & Hobbs reruns....
- News of the Weird- by Chuck Shepherd.
- "Deck the Halls" - as "sung" by the NWS Console Replacement System (CRS). That's the original computer-synthesized voice used on NOAA Weather Radios. (Requires Windows Media Player)

Computers/Internet (obviously!)
JavaScript Applications
Note: These applications are not guaranteed to work on any particular browser. If one doesn't work on the browser you're using, try another. They are most likely to work with the latest version of Internet Explorer or Firefox.
- This JavaScript program (which requires JSv1.2+) calculates many
weather parameters: metric/U.S. conversions, wind chill, heat index,
sea-level pressure reduction, dew point/relative humidity/wet-bulb
temperature, etc.- Color Sampler - This program allows you to select any RGB foreground/background color pair to see how the combination looks.
- Browser info. - This is a simple JavaScript routine that can identify certain features of the browser you're using.
- Calendar - This program shows the current month with today highlighted and U.S. federal holidays in maroon.
- Countdown timer - This program shows the time until/since the time you specify, assuming your computer's clock is set correctly!
- Prime Factorization - This one is a mathematical diversion that shows a list of numbers with their prime factors.

- CSS1 Reference - This site is a good reference for Cascading Style Sheets, upon which much of the format of this site is based.
- HTML to CSS Examples - Actual examples of how to transform old-style HTML into HTML with CSS.
- CSS1 Compatibility - A colorful chart showing how well the various Web browsers support CSS.
- 216 HTML Color Names - Speaking of colors....
- My own vi editor cheatsheet - a chart of vi commands for those of us who cannot possibly remember them.
- JavaScript manual - Netscape's reference manual for JavaScript.
